Oath of Peak: Shell Farming Guide
The global release of Oath of Peak is here… at last!
I’ve been playing through Early Access as part of my diary series to help you get to know Oath of Peak. Today, we’re talking Shells. You’re going to need a lot of them as you progress through the game.
So let’s give you the best start possible and show you how to collect Shells and save time doing so.
Players encounter several types of currency in Oath of Peak. But today, the focus is on Shells. Shells are the primary in-game currency, and they also have an impact on the web3 elements of the game, since they’re exchangeable for the $PKTK token.
The $PKTK token is Oath of Peak’s utility token. It can be exchanged for Shells in-game, providing liquidity for Oath of Peak’s economy.
You encounter 2 types of Shells as you play. They are…
Shells: As mentioned, Shells are the primary in-game currency. They are used for the vast majority of basic purchases, and also for swaps.
Rogue Shells: Rogue Shells are a version of Shells that have some limitations in-game. For instance, Rogue Shells cannot be traded with other players.
There are some useful articles already published about the earning loop in Oath of Peak, along with breakdowns of both the tokens and the use of NFTs.
In the future, you can expect guides about other in-game items you can use as a form of currency such as Jade and Spirit Stones.
Now, let’s talk about how to farm Shells in Oath of Peak.
Once you’ve leveled up a little, daily repeatable quests and resource collection will be your main source of Shells. When starting out, though, there are many different ways to earn. This list should help cover the most effective methods. Let me know in the comments if you’ve found even more ways!
Achievements and Gifts: Achievements and gifts are awards for reaching in-game milestones. In the beginning, Oath of Peak is generous with its rewards for completing quests and activities.
There are numerous reward tracks that start running from the second you log in. The “online gifts” are one example. The first of these rewards you with 1000 Rogue Shells once you play for over 10 minutes.
Make sure to actively track your progress and claim these Shells as they unlock. Completing activities also earns activity points that reward players with Shells at certain thresholds!
Dailies: Dailies are quests and activities that you can repeat… daily. Once you’ve reached a certain part of the story (and a corresponding level), you’ll unlock fun repeatable events. You can run these events solo or with a group every day.
Some of these daily quests reward players with EXP and gear. Others reward players with Shells. If you’re trying to get ahead in the game, it’s worth doing all of them every day!
Teaming up with other players is easy in Oath of Peak. You’ll receive regular invites from players to complete quests and other activities. This engagement makes farming even more enjoyable, sociable, and rewarding.
Ranked Battles: Ranked battles can dish out vast amounts of shells to the victors in PvP mode. These battles are ideal for competitive players.
Swordbroken Abyss: The Swordbroken Abyss is an area full of challenging PVE and PVP combat events with high reward rates. Make sure your CP level is high before you venture here!
The Market: The Market allows players to sell gear you don’t need. While playing the game, you occasionally pick up loot for classes different from your own. You can melt these items for resources, but it might be more worthwhile to sell them to other players on the marketplace in exchange for Shells!
Materialization: Materialization involves sending your Spirit Beast on a fetch-style quest. Your beast returns with Shells for you. Primordial Spirit Beasts (PSBs) get a boost to their earn rates, by the way!
Own an NFT: I decided to join the Pre-Mint and managed to get one of the last mystery boxes. It revealed a Huodou when I opened it!
Before I could use Huodou in the game, there were some steps I needed to take:
Purchase and open the mystery box
Bind my Huodou to my account and receive it as an in-game item
Infuse the Shape Fruit item in my bag to turn him into a usable Spirit Beast
If I choose not to keep him, I can always go to the marketplace and sell my precious Huodou there. But for now, I’m looking forward to using him for breeding and to boost my materialization rewards.
As a side note, once you use Huodou in-game, he’s not quite as cute anymore!
